Thoughts on Creating a Home
For us "Home" is more than the building we live in. It's the atmosphere and attitude of our family. My thoughts lately have been largely directed to the type of "Home" Corey and I are creating.
This past Sunday in church Pastor Bill Price preached a sermon on Genesis 2:15-25 entitled God's Purpose for Marriage. The sermon is part of a series that we are currently in entitled "The Summer of Love". First we studied 1 John and now we've moved into a marriage series titled "Towards a Loving Marriage".
The entire sermon was great! But what really caught my attention were Bill's points on how we can honor God in our homes (or family relationships).

Enjoy!

- Our homes can be holy places...this certainly sounds hilarious. Especially when you are expecting your first child, but as I listened closer I really connected with the idea of a holy home. Holy really just means..."set apart, safe or sacred". SO, in the midst of dirty diapers, first baths, many visitors, a crying baby and all the other chaotic things that will take place in our home in the next few months our home can be holy. Set apart to honor God. Hospitable to guests. Calm in the midst of chaos.
- Our homes can reflect the communion of the perfect Trinity. Communion comes through unity. We have to stick together, work together, be a team. There is no room for selfishness...especially when we will have a new little person who is FULLY dependant on us!
- Our homes can reflect the harmony of God's character. Genesis 1:27 tells us that we were created in God's image...male & female. Our culture speaks of competition between the sexes, but really both masculinity and femininity are from God. Our marriage and the roles we take on can bring harmony in our home whether Corey is doing the typical "man's work" and I am doing the typical "woman's work"...our roles or work are equally important and valuable.
- Our homes can be places that display joy! This is probably one of my favorite words...joy, joy joy! Some days joy in our home comes easily. I suspect that in the very near future we may be experience many of those easy days. But we may also experience many days when the chaos, noise and mess of having a newborn (and just children for that matter) may get to us, and we will need to intentionally choose JOY!

Bumpdate: Choosing JOY!
Today I am totally wanting to complain about all my aches and pains...instead I'm choosing JOY!
All the things I will miss about being pregnant:
All the things I will miss about being pregnant:
- Adorable stares and second glances from strangers...everywhere I go
- Having this little lady all to myself...how will I teach her to share if I am having a hard time with the idea
- Tiny hiccups in my belly
- Real butter...when trying to loose weight the unnecessary condiments are the first to go
- Yoga pants...for anywhere, anytime, any occasion
- Pretty maternity clothes
- The many encouraging words from those who have gone before me...and even sometimes men who have no idea what I'm experiencing

Bumpdate: 37 weeks...Getting Ready!
Hello! Still here! Still pregnant!
This week marks 37 weeks...it's a little surreal...ok a lot surreal!! Three weeks until baby...two weeks of work left. Sometimes I'm not sure which is more unbelievable. I'm thrilled to be a stay at home mom (thanks Hubs!), but it's very hard to believe that something I've dreamt about for a very long time will be here in two short weeks.
Anyway...here's what we've been up to in the last month:
Here we are at 37 weeks...Hitting the dance floor at the wedding Corey officiated.
And here are a few other pics from the month of July...

- bought enough diapers to last approximately six weeks
- put together the stroller
- celebrated our sweetie with Corey's coworkers
- celebrated the little miss with family at our final baby shower
- cleaned and prepared the Jetta to be a family vehicle (Corey did this part)
- Corey officiated a friend's wedding
- bought a video camera
- installing the infant car seat
- organizing and decorating the nursery
- packing our bags
- cleaning the house...everyday just in case
